Classes, retreats and study groups take place at the Vermont Weaving School, located in the old Putney Elementary School, close to the center of Putney. The school is equipped with thirteen looms, mostly floor looms, with a couple of table looms and a wide variety of equipment. There’s plenty of yarn to choose from… different colors, fibers, textures, and a complete library of weaving books.
Weekly classes begin in January. These are suitable for beginners and advanced beginners. All equipment provided.
Wed: 11-1:30 (beginning January 20)
Tues: 5-7:30 (beginning January 26)
In case of snow cancellation, class will be extended by one session.
10 weeks, $250 plus $20 materials fee for first project (additional projects will be charged by weight of materials used)
To register, please send $50 deposit to: Dena Gartenstein, 4 Signal Pine Road, Putney, VT 05346
Although the class is designed for beginners, class size will be small enough to accommodate students at all levels. Participants will learn the basics of weaving and all skills necessary to create a finished piece of fabric, including project planning, setting up and anatomy of the loom, fabric structures and finishing techniques.
In addition, I offer phone and e-mail help to my students, both in finding a suitable loom and also in getting started at home.
